You are able to navigate and captain your own speedboat for the entirety of the tour while following trained and knowledgeable guides to experience the best of both worlds – the THRILL of driving your own speedboat and the safety of having a skilled guide introduce you to the beauty of San Diego Harbor.  The witty yet historical narration is done through wireless disposable headsets that are given to each customer.  Your fully narrated tour lasts for 13 miles on the Big Bay.  You will have a once in a lifetime view of Navy ships, Coronado Bridge, the famous Star of India and other historic ships of the Maritime Museum, the cruise ship terminal, Seaport Village, the downtown skyline and all the wildlife that call the San Diego Harbor home.  Driving these 13 foot mini speed boats is exhilarating as well as easy and suitable for first time boaters.

There is a $6.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order. There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown at checkout includes any fuel surcharges, service charges and tax. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.

Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

Effective February 15, 2022, masks are no longer required for outdoor activities or in public indoor settings for fully vaccinated persons; masks are still required in public indoor settings for persons not fully vaccinated.

  • Tour in your own F13 mini speed boat - or, if ordered, a 50 hp Sport Upgrade boat
  • USCG approved life jacket
  • Bottled water
  • Instruction covering boating basics, rules of the road, tour hand signals and a professional trained guide leading and narrating the tour.

 

About the boats:

  • Your boat is very safe, stable, and comfortable.
  • Boats are equipped with all the necessary coast guard approved safety equipment.
  • Each boat can carry up to 3 persons and is powered by a super-quiet, eco friendly 30 horsepower outboard motor - or, if ordered, a 50 horsepower Sport Upgrade outboard.
  • Easy to drive! You will be sitting in a comfortable cushioned seat. You steer the wheel just like a car, and have a throttle on your side with 3 positions (forward, neutral, reverse). You can cruise slow or as fast as a jetski.
  • Boats do have a storage compartment but bags can get wet - so beware.

 

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are there any restrictions or weight requirements? -- Yes, there is a per boat weight limit of 450 lbs. A small child (under 50 lbs) is allowed to sit in the middle. You must be 18 years or older to drive a boat by yourself.  Ages 16 & 17 may drive a boat as long as an adult is in the boat as well.

Any health restrictions? -- Although usually calm, the harbor can be choppy at times. Those with neck or back problems or a recent surgery to participate should not participate. Pregnant women should not participate.

What to bring to wear?

  1. Wear what you would to the beach depending on the temperature (swimsuit in the summer and a jacket in the winter)
  2. Sandals or flip-flops
  3. A towel
  4. Sun block
  5. Sunglasses

Can we switch drivers? -- Absolutely!  You will stop several times during the tour and you can switch drivers if you like.

What if I am by myself? -- Just order the 1-person rate and you'll have the boat to yourself!

What if I have never driven a boat? -- No problem!  The boats are very simply to operate and your guides will make sure you are fully comfortable with the operation before you leave the dock.
