Brothels, Bites & Booze - A Culinary Walking Tour of San Diego's Questionable Past
Travel back to the late 19th century when the dirt roads of Downtown San Diego were filled with horse drawn carriages, scantily clothed women hung from window sills and 5th Ave. was flooded with drunken sailors looking to have a good time. Listen to scandalous stories as you sample Italian, Mexican and Indian cuisines. Visit a brewery where you will taste fresh beer (ages 21+), learn how it is made, and sample one of San Diego's best margaritas!
While on your tour, your guide will walk you along 4th Ave., painting a picture of what the city was like when it was founded in the late 1800s. Explore the history and beauty of the buildings, and discover hidden secrets of Downtown San Diego. The tour will stop at various restaurants and bars where you will taste some of the town's favorite foods and drinks.

There is a $6.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order. There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown at checkout includes any fuel surcharges, service charges and tax. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.
Tour / Activity Policies
Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final.
Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.
Tour / Activity Description
Your tour guides pride themselves on showing the true essence of the city and its residences. The idea behind the tour is to introduce you to sights and flavors that you wouldn't have otherwise experienced without your guide, and to introduce you to the wonderful restaurant owners and chefs of San Diego. With tastes ranging from Indian and Italian Cuisine, to margaritas, tacos, and freshly brewed beer, this taste is sure to please any one and everyone!
You will experience the charming history of the Gaslamp Quarter. Learn about the Quarter’s proud founder, and walk the streets as your guide tells you about the Quarter’s commercial district, the scandalous Stingaree district, and the San Diego Asian District. As you walk through the neighborhood, your senses will be delighted with tasty samples of ethnic cuisine.
The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and covers about 1.25 miles of flat terrain. The food samples along the way are enough for a full lunch. You are advised to not eat before coming on the tour. Alcoholic beverage samples are only served to guests 21 years or older (valid government-issued photo IDs required).
